Newsletter No 6 19 April 2023
From the Principal
Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to term 2. I hope you enjoyed time with family and friends over the Easter break.
Next Monday we have about 12 students attending the district cross-country event at Sunnybank. Best of luck to all participants.
Our ANZAC Assembly will be at 2:15pm Monday 24 April, in front of the flags (weather permitting). We ask student to bring a floral offering from home to add to class wreaths. It is not necessary to purchase flowers (or take them from your neighbours!). Native greenery and blooms look terrific. Flowers should be delivered to the prep block (C Block) kitchen before school. Parents are warmly invited to attend. Lest we forget.
A reminder that Tuesday 25 April is a Public Holiday for ANZAC Day.
Please be reminded that Monday 1 May is the Labor Day Public Holiday.
We welcome Whitney Spencer to 1/2B for the remainder of the year (replacing Tara Border- maternity leave). Welcome to Jason Smith in 4W (replacing Taryn Walters- long service leave 4 weeks). Welcome also to Rebecca Abbott in the office (replacing Tracy Allan-Long service leave).
Works to remove material from Martin Street were carried out over the holidays. There will be continued work this weekend. There will be ongoing consultation regarding the development of Martin Street this term, including opportunities for community consultation. I will provide further updates in the next newsletter.
School photos will be taken on Wednesday 3 May- see flyer below.
Finally, there are a small number of reported cases of Covid19 in the school community. While most COVID-19 public health directions have been relaxed or removed, there are actions that schools and families are encouraged to take to limit the transmission of infection. For the latest advice from Queensland Health, including current traffic light advice External link, please visit their website .
Have a great week.

Well, here we go! The school’s Environmental Education program kicks off in term two each year, just as the weather starts to cool down a little. This year marks a new era, with our refurbished Outdoor Learning Area up and running beautifully. The whole school is buzzing with life. Birds, bees, lizards, fish, frogs and everything else. Our chickens are happy and healthy and our rewilded areas are growing well. Fruit and herbs flourish, what a time! In the first few weeks of the term, we will be kicking off the vegetable beds again, so keep an eye out for some beautiful produce and seedlings for sale. Hope you like the snap of our pizza legends Davida and Beth, hard at work last term at the Equinox gig. Also, a nice one of some of our keen rewilders. Happy Autumn!
