Newsletter No 2 8 February 2023
From the Principal
Hi everyone
Thank you for your attendance at the Parent Information night last night. Parent Information night assists in students, parents and teachers starting the school year off on firm foundations.
Parents of students in year 6 are invited to attend assembly at 2:30 pm Tuesday 21 February for our senior badge presentation. Our senior leaders will receive their badges. Badges for school leaders and house captains will be also be presented.
NAPLAN testing has been moved to term 1 for students in years 3 and 5. As in 2022, testing in 2023 will be completed online (except year 3 writing). The test window is Wednesday 15- Monday 27 March. Students will participate in practice familiarisation tests in the fortnight leading up to the tests. Further information will be sent out in the coming fortnight.
Have a great week.

From the HOC
Hi Everyone
It is lovely to be back at Buranda amongst a sea of friendly faces. My apologies for not remembering names. Please remind me if you see me and I am looking blank.
At the P&C meeting the issue of online safety was raised. The esafety commissioner is a very reliable source of information about internet safety for the whole community.
Parents will find their parent tab particularly useful. It offers information about issues and advice, parental controls, cyberbullying, and the hard to have conversations to help your children stay safe online. The website also has a number of downloadable resources and free webinars for parents. I hope you find it helpful.

School Choir
Choir rehearsals will run during first break on Thursdays, after eating time, starting in Week 3 of term. If your child is in Grades 3-6 they are welcome to join! Attending one rehearsal is not a life sentence, so please encourage your child to come along and try it out if they are unsure.
If you have any questions about choir you can contact me at ctafr0@eq.edu.au.
Looking forward to singing together soon!

Book Club
Issue 1 for 2023 closes (for free delivery to School) at midnight on Thursday 9 February.
All orders are to be placed online (LOOP). No cash/cheque accepted at school for orders.
P&C Update
Tuckshop
Tuckshop is now up and running. This week’s meal is the ever-popular Mexican bowl (meat and vegetarian options).
You can order tuckshop until Wednesday at 10pm using the Qkr! App. You can also cancel orders to that time if you need to.
We have enough volunteers for the next couple of weeks, but we need more volunteers for later in the term. Please help us by signing up to volunteer in a week that suits you at this link. Parents volunteering at the school are great role models for all our kids.
WhatsApp class groups
We encourage all parents to join these friendly and informative class groups. Then you'll get all the news and stay in the loop.
Please text your coordinator and ask to join:
