School absences/not returning in 2023
If your child is going to be away for more that 10 school days you need to complete an Application for Exemption form, please contact the office for a form. If you are not returning to Buranda SS next year please contact the office as soon as possible to advise and complete a Student exit form. Both of these forms can be found under the Forms and Documents tab at the side of the newsletter.
Collection of Medication
Please remember to collect all medication from the office on the last day of term. Uncollected medication will be disposed of at a chemist.
From the Library
Library stock take will take place in weeks 9 & 10.
If any students have lost their book/s a note from their parent/caregiver is required by the Library so that data can be adjusted.
From the Forest
With only three weeks left of this final term, I’d like to tell everyone of some of the great things that are happening in our little patch of green presently.
First up, you may have noticed the revamped outdoor learning area with new swales and improved pipework. I’m very pleased to report that it all works brilliantly and looks great to boot.
The frog ponds are finally complete and full of beautiful native fish, native water plants and tadpoles of both striped marsh frogs and eastern sedge frogs.
The vege beds are full of corn, silverbeet, beetroot, tomato, onion and basil, ready for a pizza cook up with a few of the classes in week eight. The preps dug up the potatoes we planted earlier in the year, and I’m pleased to report a bumper crop.
You may have noticed our beautiful new hens too. They are Australorp bantams and are laying well and bringing joy to all that pass.
We have nearly planted all the native plants given to us by the BCC again this year, complementing the hundreds put in over the years. Our little forest just keeps getting more beautiful by the day,
And last but not least, we have kicked off our Compost and Recycling Legends program with the students of 2C leading the charge to a more sustainable future for the school. Well done champs! Next year, the higher grades will have their chance to shine. So there you go, happy days in the forest.

Break up Day Shared Lunch
Buranda State School is bringing back the shared lunch tradition in 2022, it is a lovely way to finish off the year. Each class brings something from a designated list and our year 6 cohort serves all the students.

1/2 S, 1/2 K, 2C: Sandwiches / Sushi

6C, 6BA: Junk food! (chips/lollies)
All food should be delivered to the tuckshop before school, Friday 9 December, 8-9am.
Please label all containers, the tuckshop will need platters to serve. Containers will have to be collected at the end of the day from the hall by the children or parents.
Please be mindful of students who may have food allergies. Label containers of prepared food with the list of ingredients. We would appreciate Gluten Free and Vegan food for all kids to enjoy the lunch!
For a successful lunch the tuckshop will need the help of parents to prepare platters, heat food and clean containers from 8am to after 2nd lunch. You can come for ½ hour or stay as long as you want!
Please contact Ludivine (0432257248), if your child has severe allergies or needs specific dietary requirement.
