Hats off to teachers this World Teachers’ Day!
Our teachers have shown great resilience during challenging times, all so they can give Australian students the best future possible.
Take a moment to share your “hats off” selfie to celebrate teachers, and to tell us what they mean to you. Grab your hat – beret, beanie, bucket, bowler – and create a post on social media, making sure to use #WTD2022 and @aitsl.
Have a great week.

Day for Daniel - Thursday 27 October
Due to Budgie Cup next Friday, our school will acknowledge Day for Daniel on Thursday 27 October. D4D is recognised by schools, kindys and workplaces around Australia, and highlights important child safety messages - at home, online and in our community. All children have the right to feel safe.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation Lessons are part of the National Health Curriculum for P-Year 6 and endorsed by Education Qld. Students watched Day for Daniel videos at assembly yesterday, and will watch another presentation at assembly next week.
Our school has important activities planned for Thursday 27 Oct:
- Students and staff can wear a red shirt on the day
- All families are encouraged to meet at the shelter in Hanlon Park at 8.15am to join families and Mr Vaseo for our Walk for Daniel.
- All classes will view the Day for Daniel Safety Video in hall
- Students can bring a bag of silver/gold coins to create a “Safety Mural” in amphitheatre. Funds will be donated to Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
- Students will enjoy FREE RED FRUIT kindly donated by Rock’N’Roll Deli.

P&C Update
P&C contribution to school
The school fete raised over $15,000 for the P&C (thanks again to all our volunteers!).
We are using that to make the P&C’s annual contribution to the school of $14,500. That contributes to paying for the Environment Program ($12,000), plus instrumental and sports equipment.
Ideas for future P&C projects
The P&C is in a healthy financial state and we are looking at future projects.
Past P&C projects have included air conditioning of classrooms and outdoor aluminium tables for groups to work outside.
We would love to hear your ideas for future P&C projects.
If you have an idea, email the P&C Secretary or President, or come along to our next P&C meeting on Wednesday 2 November at 6.15pm.
Sushi Friday
We are running another Sushi Friday this week (on Friday 21 October). You will be able to order sushi on Qkr! until 8pm on Wednesday 19 October.
We need a few parents each week to help Sushi Fridays, which normally only takes 1-2 hours (as the sushi is delivered pre-made and parents simply help distribute it). Please help us by signing up to volunteer in a week that suits you at this link.
Parent volunteers are a must to keep Sushi Fridays going. It is a nice way to meet other parents and be involved in the school.
Mango drive
Our mango drive is up and running. You can buy boxes of delicious mangos on Qkr!
School disco date claimer
Mark in your diary that our School Disco will be held on Friday 2 December 2022 from 5.30pm. There will be Futuristic Fun with Food, Friends and Funky Dances. More details to follow....
Swimming Caps
Swimming caps are now available for purchase through Qkr!, these will be delivered to students classrooms on Wednesday's along with regular uniform purchases. Please note that the office will not be accepting cash for swimming caps.
