Newsletter 15 18 May 2022
From the Principal
Hi everyone
This week demolition work will commence on the buildings in Martin Street. There should be no disruption to our normal operations including afternoon pick-up. Further information about the project will be released for your consideration in the coming weeks.
Please do not use the staff carpark in Cowley Street for drop off or pick up between 8:00am - 9:15am and 2:45pm -3:30pm. There is limited space for our staff parking needs and any extra pressure on the carpark is unsafe and unworkable. Please use Martin Street (drop off & pick up) or Gladys Street. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
Our oval is still extremely soggy at the moment - we are allowing children to play under cover and on playground equipment but it is still too wet to play on the oval.
Have a great week.

From the Garden
Well, term two has now begun and thus another year of Environmental Education at our wonderful school.
As far as our school gardens are concerned, our plants could not be happier! Even with all the rain falling, our students have been able to get out and see how the wider school garden areas have fared over the past few months. We planted up a new section near the Preps and even squeezed in a bit of a Wildlife Rescue talk this week. We hope to be back in the main garden area later this term after remediation works occur.

From Helping Hands
A huge Hello from the team here at Helping Hands,
What with it being week 5 already, I thought I had better do the usual reminder for Vacation Care. I have attached a program that has been approved and we will be back to two excursions again. Please get your bookings in early, as we are experiencing staff storages throughout our region and need to know numbers well ahead to ensure correct child staff ratio's.
A quick word about umbrella's, we have two that are for us to transport children from one place to another. Given that we only have the two, please try to remember your own umbrella, the one's outside the room are not for borrowing.

Winter Solstice Entertainment
Seeking local creatives!
Buranda State School is holding their Winter Solstice on Saturday 18 June, and we would love some singer/songwriters or a local band/s to perform while we gather around our famous Solstice fire. The general vibe is a chilled event for parents, friends and the local community, enjoying mulled wine, and warm eats. If this sounds like your vibe, we’d love to hear from you.
The P&C is seeking expressions of interest for locals to perform and for a couple of sets we can pay you a small amount too!
