Newsletter 9 23 March 2022
From the Principal
Important notice- The P&C AGM set down for tonight has been postponed until next Wednesday 30 March. There are high number of members unavailable to attend to this evening. Further information in this newsletter.
Hi everyone
As I’d communicated earlier this week, there are a number of active COVID-19 cases in the school community. It is vital that children stay home if unwell and get tested, parents will be contacted if a student is sent to school and present with any of the following symptons - headache, sore stomach, temperature, runny nose, cough, sore throat.
The manager of the Metro South Health Service has contacted me to mention that a number of school parents have been using their carpark in Cowley Street, at drop off and pickup times. Please do not use the Metro South Health Service carpark (unless you have an appointment there). Drop off and pickup can be conducted in Martin and Gladys Street.
You may find the following resources useful in exploring your child’s social and emotional wellbeing. These resources have been endorsed by the Metropolitan Regional Office.
Raising Healthy Minds - free app for parents and carers – an easy-to-use, evidence-based resource to share with parents and carers who have raised concerns about a child's social and emotional wellbeing, or where professionals have observed concerns about a child. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, bullying, gender identity, feelings, trauma, resilience, tantrums, emotional regulation, temperament and learning difficulties.

Appointments during school hours
There has been a huge increase in students attending appointments during school time. To help the office manage all the messages, please email the teacher and admin (admin@burandass.eq.edu.au) before 9am with the details.
Teachers are not always able check their emails during the day. Emails can also be sent ahead of time. Also, please consider when students have their lunch breaks. First lunch is 11.00am- 11.45am and second lunch is 1.15pm-1.45pm. Collecting students during a lunch break can be difficult especially if they are playing on the senior oval.
Phone calls to teachers during school time can be very disruptive, especially when there is many messages throughout the day.
Please help us minimise this disruption.
Prep Enrolments
We are now accepting Prep enrolments for 2023, please contact the office on 3435 1222 to register your child.

From Helping Hands
Hello All,
With less than 2 weeks until Vacation Care, spaces are filling up quickly, so make sure you don't miss out. Remember, you can not book once the holidays have started without calling me to see if I have enough staff. Staffing could be a struggle with this wave of covid going through, so please book now so I can staff correctly. If your child has covid, please let me know as I have to report this to the Department. It is not the school offices job to let me know, as we operate independently of each other. I realise that some are letting the office know but not us. This also applies if your child is off sick. The school office shuts at 3pm so I need to know if your child is away and cannot check with the school as they shut as we start. Stay safe.
Sue and the Helping Hands Team.

Buranda Bush Care
We welcome all ages as we together re-create this beautiful little patch of riparian shrub near the school bridge on Norman Creek. Please come and visit and see if you can spot the local yellow robin in the picture…look near the big gum tree.
Caring for Country…especially this busy corner of Yuggera Country… is a wonderful way parents and carers can connect their children to nature and good mental health.
We supply everything you need: gloves, tools, happy people, local knowledge, and a way to fight climate change….your very own carbon sequestration and nature connection project!
Our next event is on Sunday March 27th from 7 – 10 am…. but come anytime!
If interested please text Bryn on 0439 300 375 or better still, follow and respond on the facebook page (search Buranda Bush care) https://www.facebook.com/BurandaBCC/
