Newsletter 25 August Week 7 Term 3
Message from the Principal
Hi everyone
Next week our year 5/6s are on school camp at Maroon Outdoor Education Centre. If you have a child attending please check the equipment list before the end of the week. The camp is from Monday 30 - Thursday 2 September.
Next Friday 3 September is a Student Free Day. Our staff will be working on whole school moderation tasks.
For reference- the Year 4 Camp to Jacob’s Well Environmental Education Centre is on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September, the last two days of this term.
Thanks for your cooperation through the current COVID 19 restrictions, currently:
- Instrumental, choir, excursions, assemblies, camps etc. are permitted adhering to COVID safe restrictions
- Playgrounds and facilities -use by students permitted
- External visitors/programs permitted with principal approval
Again- staff will continue to wear masks onsite. We’d also ask to keep your campus visits to those that are absolutely necessary. We will continue to support younger students at collection points in the afternoons.
It has been brought to my attention that a small number of parents have been parking in the Queensland Health Building at pick up times. Please do not use the Queensland Health building for parking. QHeatlh are great neighbours and greatly assisted us when we were having issues with their patients using our car park. If you need to park and walk to a collection point- Gladys Street is the only place where this can be safely done.
Our OSHC service have use of a Loose Parts Pod, which is located at the Cowley Street forecourt entrance. This trailer will be used by students at after school care for the next couple of weeks. The Junior Adventurers Network (formerly Helping Hands) loan this trailer out to their service providers. It’s full of fun construction stuff. Please admire it from a distance.
I’m pleased to announce that we have appointed an acting Head of Department -Curriculum for the remainder of 2021. We look forward to welcoming Laruen Grayson as soon as can be arranged. Please see an introduction from Lauren below.
Have a great week

Vivian our wonderful tuckshop convenor starts a new job this week and will no longer be available to run the tuckshop. We thank Vivian for all her hard work, and wish her all the best. We will be asking for Expressions of Interest soon, more details to follow.
