Newsletter 18 August Week 6 Term 3
Message from the Principal
Hi everyone,
This week we welcomed back a number of students from quarantine. A special thanks to those families who followed the health directives to protect the community. I’m sure everyone is happy to be back at school. Thanks everyone for continuing to cooperate with the health advice through the past month. Keep your eye out for updates through the end of the week/weekend.
Next week a traffic survey will be conducted in Martin Street by an external sub-contractor working on the Martin Street re-fit project. Low-resolution cameras will be used to record the activity in Martin Street for a number of days/weeks. Please see the attached communication from the contractor. It is for traffic management purposes only- individual details are not recorded.

Single-Use Plastic Ban in Qld
From September 1 2021, certain single-use plastic items will be banned in Qld, including plastic straws, stirrers, cutlery, plates, bowls and expanded polystyrene cups and containers.
As many community groups provide takeaway food and drink as part of their community and fundraising activities, this may affect how you operate. As such, your group may benefit from information on how to comply with the new bans.
To help you prepare, the Qld Government has contracted the Boomerang Alliance* to conduct a series of early evening forums across the state to answer your questions on:
- What items are included in the ban?
- What alternative products can be used?
- How can my organisation adapt to comply with the ban?
We would like to invite you to your local forum which is listed below. For venue information and to register, please follow THIS LINK to our Eventbrite page.
Please feel free to share this email and the attached information amongst your networks.
If you have any questions, please email Tanja at tanja.schueler@boomerangalliance.org.au
