Newsletter 21 July Week 2 Term 3
Message from the Principal
Hi everyone,
Please be reminded that drop off and pickup is through Martin Street only. Do not use Salisbury Street for set down and pick-up. This practice is dangerous and endangers students’ lives.
Students enjoyed the Wadjiny performance with Troy on Monday. The session included history, artefacts, song dance and fire making.
Our Business Manager, Maree Healy is on leave until the end of next week. Please ensure all emails are sent to: admin@burandass.eq.edu.au.
Our Head of Curriculum, Dr Rosie Scholl has accepted a 6 month secondment to the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Branch to work on the Respectful Relationships materials. We wish Rosie well in this role and will certainly miss her work here. We will find a suitable acting HOC asap. Rosie will commence in her new role on August 2.
Thanks again for continuing to adhere to public health directives.
Have a great week.

Parent Tip 11
Teach your child some mind tricks
Show your child how to summarise a story in a few sentences using the 5 W’s – who, when, where, what and why.
This strategy helps a child comprehend and remember.
Scholastic Book Club
The Scholastic Book Club catalogue for Term Three has been sent home. To make a purchase go to:
scholastic.com.au/LOOP OR download the LOOP app.
Please do not send money and orders to school as they cannot be processed this way.
Orders close Monday 2 August
Orders placed by the closing date will be delivered to school.
*Every order will earn resources and books for our school library*
From the Garden
Have a look at this beauty! Our first egg in about six months, thanks to one of our beautiful hens who have come back to the school from an extended holiday with Chris McGrath and family. Many thanks for looking after them so well, they have returned in great health and are settling back in wonderfully to the delight of the whole school.
Thing are rolling along nicely with the finishing touches on the new area almost done. Next week we will plant out the revamped garden beds with tomatoes, silverbeet, radishes, beetroot and more.
Last week the students had an introductory crash course in poultry care and also helped water and weed some of the rewilded sections of the school as birdsong lifted our hearts. Wild Winter weather is still with us, but we can feel Sprinter coming in fast. Enjoy these glorious days and nights while you can.

From the Tuckshop
Tuckshop is back this week with our much-loved oven baked rolls.
Parents should note that it is their responsibility to check and confirm their child's weekly orders on Qkr!
Students who believe they have ordered tuckshop and present without a slip will be directed to the office to confirm an order has been placed. Parents will be contacted if necessary.
Needless to say: we need volunteers
To make it easier for everyone this term we are trialing a new volunteering system: you will find next to the Tuckshop window a poster with our weekly shifts schedule. You can sign up for as little as one hour or commit to a whole shift, entirely up to you.
Every hour donated is truly appreciated 🙂
You can also volunteer by emailing us on tuckshop@burandasspandc.org.au
Mango Fundraiser
Daina Adam (parent) will be organising the Mango fundraiser again this year, watch the newsletter for updates.
