Newsletter 14 July Week 1 Term 3
Message from the Principal
Hi everyone
Welcome back to term 3. I hope you enjoyed the break with your families-lockdown included. FNQ was wet and relaxing. Hinchinbrook Channel is a stunning landscape.
Further to the COVID restrictions currently in place, please observe the following:
- Keep visits to the campus to those that are necessary
- If you are on school grounds- please wear a mask and keep your physical distance from others
- Parents should not enter classrooms
- Children do not need to wear masks
- Teachers do no need to wear masks when working with children
- Teachers and staff should wear masks on site where they are unable to keep 1.5m physical distance from other adults
There’s been substantial work to various parts of the school over the holidays:
- Permanent soft-fall has been installed at the 3 climbing apparatus at the southern side of the oval
- The old timber climbing frame and shade frame have been removed (next to the sand pit)
- A ramp has been installed at the back of the amphitheatre
- A new roof has been installed over the pool pump shed
- Various pieces of rusted guttering have been repaired
- New tactiles have been installed on steps around the school
Students will have an opportunity to attend the Wadjiny Performance on Monday 19 July- as part of NAIDOC Week activities. Please make payment online and the permission note to the office ASAP.
There’s also a NAIDOC week colouring competition for students- that has been promoted by teachers across the school.
The School Opinion Survey is open until Friday, 30 July 2021.
To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2021.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.

More on Reading…
For children to love reading allow them to read all sorts of things.
Children should be allowed to read whatever materials they find interesting, be it comics, magazines, or poetry. Doing otherwise may reduce their potential to engage in recreational reading.
The freedom to select books leads to a positive attitude towards reading, better engagement with the book, and a more enjoyable reading experience.
Scholastic Book Club
The Scholastic Book Club catalogue for Term Three will be sent home next week (Week 2). Please check your child’s library bag for their copy. To make a purchase, go to:
scholastic.com.au/LOOP OR download the LOOP app.
Please do not send money and orders to school as they cannot be processed this way.
Orders close Monday 2 August 2
Orders placed by the closing date will be delivered to school.
*Every order will earn resources and books for our school library*
Lost Property
Our lost property baskets are overflowing, please make sure you check if your child has lost anything. Any clothing not collected by the end of the week (Friday 16 July) will be washed and dontated as secondhand uniforms. Any lunch boxes and drink bottles will be thrown away.
