Debtors Invoice Statement Information
Guidance for Understanding Your Statement and Payment Options
Monthly Statement Process
Statements are distributed to parents once a month, typically at the end or the beginning of each month. You will receive your statement via email, with the heading “Debtors Invoice Statement”. This document provides a summary of all payments currently owing as well as any credits held on your account.
Understanding Your Statement
- Total Balance Owing: Please pay the total balance shown, as this figure already takes into account any credits you may have.
- Credits: Credit balances or totals are displayed with a minus sign (–). These amounts do not need to be paid. Any credit on your account will be automatically applied to future invoices.
- Credit Refunds: If you would like your credit refunded, please email Doreen Holland at bsm@burandass.eq.edu.au to request a refund form. Refunds can only be issued to debtor parents listed on invoices/statements. Please ensure your bank account details are recorded, as refunds will not be processed without them.
Payment Reminders and Overdue Accounts
As per departmental requirements, schools will email parents in the middle of each month with reminders regarding payment for late or overdue invoices:
- First Reminder (30 Days Overdue): Sent by the school.
- Second Reminder (60 Days Overdue): Sent by the Department.
- Third Reminder (90 Days Overdue): Also sent by the Department.

Understanding the Reboot 5 Faces
Last newsletter, I mentioned that our focus this term is on Reboot — a framework that helps children (and adults) understand how their brains and bodies respond to emotion, stress, and challenge. At its heart, Reboot is about recognising what’s happening inside us and using practical strategies to return to calm, connection, and learning.
One of the key tools in Reboot is the 5 Coloured Faces — Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, and Red. These faces give students a simple, shared language to identify how they’re feeling and communicate it to others.
Throughout a normal day, we all move between these faces. The goal isn’t to stay “green” all the time — that’s not realistic — but to notice, name, and know what helps us return to calm when we need to. Teachers do this too - so you will know what your child means when they say, “Mrs Austin was a RED face today”
Your Challenge This Week is to talk about the 5 Faces at home. Ask your child to explain each face and what it means. You might try questions like:
- “Can you show me all the faces and tell me what each one means?”
- “Which face do you think you are in right now?”
- “What helps you move from one face to another?”
This simple conversation helps children practice naming their emotions and reinforces the Reboot language. It also gives you a window into how they are thinking about their feelings and strategies for staying calm and connected.
Using the same language at home and at school builds consistency and confidence, making it easier for children to manage their emotions across different settings.
Attached to the newsletter is a 5 Faces Check-In Wheel template. Great to make together, and a valuable tool for home or school check-ins.
