From the Principal - Welcome back to the new school year
Dear Families,
A warm welcome back to school! I hope you all had a restful break and are ready for a fantastic year ahead. It’s wonderful to see the excitement on our students' faces as they settle back into their classrooms and catch up with friends.
We have a busy and exciting term ahead, and I want to share a few important updates with you:
Parent Information Night
Our Parent Information Night is coming up soon! This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about what your child will be learning this year, meet their teachers, and ask any questions you may have. Due to staff absence, these meetings will take place in Week 5 on Tuesday, February 25.
- Prep B, Prep/1B, 1/2S, 1/2M, and 2/3C will meet from 6:00–6:30 pm.
- Years 3/4O, 3/4W, 4/5H, 5/6N, and 5/6BP will meet from 6:30–7:00 pm.
All meetings will be held in your child’s classroom. We look forward to seeing you there!
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will commence in Week 2. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate swimming gear, including a swim cap, towel, and goggles, to make the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Parent Volunteers
We always appreciate the support of our parent volunteers. If you plan to assist in your child’s class, please remember to sign in at the office first. This ensures we can maintain a safe and organised environment for all.
Parking Reminder
A reminder that there is limited parking available on Martin Street. For the safety and convenience of everyone, please enter the school through Gladys Street when dropping off or picking up your child/children.
Construction Update
Our construction program is now in full swing following some essential works over the holiday break. We are excited about the improvements that will enhance our facilities for our students. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make these important upgrades.
A Huge Thank You to Our Staff
I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff, who have worked hard to prepare for the new school year. Their efforts ensure that our students have a strong start, and I am grateful for their commitment to making this year a success.
It is truly great to be back, and I look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Kind regards
Simon Vaseo
Principal
From the Inclusion Teacher

Welcome to 2025! For those of you new to the school, I’m Katherine Austin. My role here at Buranda State School, is to work with all members of our community to help make your child’s experience here a positive one.
Each newsletter I will try to give you some insight into supporting children, and will attempt to tie this into what we are working on together at a whole school level. I apologise in advance, as I will occasionally miss a newsletter if I’m caught up with other things.
I hope you are all looking forward to a positive year ahead. Until next time…..

Please ensure your child’s medication has not expired before handing it in to the office. Parents are responsible for ensuring all medical information is up to date.

- Gladys Street is the best place for parking, if you wish to come into the school to drop off or collect your child.
- No parking in the staff car park or Metro South office building (next door on Cowley St).
- Please ensure your child is aware of where they are to be collected.
Parent/Carer contact details
There are times when we may need to contact parents and carers. Do we have your most up to date contact details? If not, please contact the school on admin@burandass.eq.edu.au so we can update our records. These details include parent/carer’s name, address, phone number, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details change. The newsletter is emailed to all parents fortnightly. Printed copies are displayed around the school on noticeboards. We also upload them to our school website.
